Albuquerque police shut down northbound Interstate 25 at Sunport and Eastbound Gibson overnight following a crash that left at least one passenger trapped in a vehicle.
“Officers are currently on scene of a multiple vehicle crash on I25 NB at Gibson,” Sgt. Tanner Tixier, an APD spokesman, said in a news release issued just before 2 a.m. on Friday. “At this time at least one passenger is trapped in a vehicle and appears to be deceased.”
The release does not say how many vehicles were involved in the crash or how long the roads would be closed.
“This is an active scene and details are limited,” Tixier said. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
