In the old days, when big names like George Soros or Paul Tudor Jones were buying or selling, everyone wanted to know about it. My roommate Jimmy Carey used to fill bond orders for Goldman’s house desk and when Jon Corzine was buying or selling you never wanted to get in the way.
But today some of the best trading programs and methods are created by retail traders and we get to see it every day.
Why we created MrTopStep.com
When we started MrTopStep.com it was to share some of the experiences we had on the trading floor and to share some of the tools we used to make money. As the credit crisis evolved and more trading firms went out of business and the new regulations began, I knew that I would have to look outside the trading floor for new trading ideas and concepts.
To widen our reach we teamed up with OptionMonster and we created Futures Monster, but their goals did not match up to MrTopStep’s and I walked on the deal. They were more interested in opening accounts than they were helping people learn to trade.
I wanted to create something where traders of all walks of life and levels of trading could go to read or share an idea, talk about a trade or talk direction. I set the new company up after that so there was no brokering, strictly trading, and 3 years later our trading community continues to strive and thrive.
Can We Talk?
The MrTopStep trading room was set up for every level of trader, from the newbie to the pro. From the inside information direct from the floor—which only we provide—to our partners at Live Squawk London, we don’t miss very much. In fact, we beat CNBC to the punch all the time.
The big difference is our willingness to share. There are no questions that go unanswered and there is no such thing as a “stupid” question. If you want to talk a level to the entire room or if you want to talk to someone individually, you can.
I think that trading is about sharing. If you have a tool that helps people make money, we would like to know about it.
This week we kick off the 4th MrTopStep BootCamp where we will also be unveiling our new multi-trading room technology, The main room or the lounge is where you can hang out to talk to other traders or you can flip over to Kathy Garber’s room or ChicagoStock’s room or Frank the PivotBoss’s room to see them setting up their LIVE trade ideas.
The trading room we always wanted to work in
Nowhere else that we know of can you learn from so many working traders, looking over their shoulders and asking questions, all under one virtual roof. And nowhere else will your trading ideas be as respected.
When we say “world’s best,” that’s our goal (and a headline to get your attention), but of course no one can make that claim.
What we can promise is, we’re real traders at work with real money. We have multiple styles; the only common denominator is they work and we show it to you in real time, day after day.
And we’re honest: when we have to exit with a stop-loss, when we are staying out because we’re not sure about the markets, when we’re taking a break to be with family or just rest our minds—we talk about it. We’re not pundits or gurus, or salespeople. We’re traders.
And over time we’ve even become friends. That’s a big deal, too. Trading in front of screens can be a lonely business. Our brand of social trading makes us better.
I can’t change the direction of the trading floor but I can help bring traders to the table that make money. When I was starting out, one of my mentors, “market wizard” Marty Schwartz, aka the Pit Bull, asked me a simple but powerful question: “Do you follow the winners?”
