In that day, more than 100 soldiers had similar symptoms. Soldiers stationed at Fort Riley were sent to Europe, where the flu spread wildly. This outbreak claimed more than 50 M lives worldwide, 600k in the US. Since that time almost all cases of influenza A worldwide have been caused by descendants of the 1918 virus.”
