NYSE Holidays
The NYSE holidays schedule 2022 details the days and times the stock market is closed throughout the year, such as on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Christmas. We also provide New York Stock Exchange trading hours for each tape and session and included December 2021 here for convenience.

*New Year’s Day 2022. This is an interesting one. Many investors are accustomed to a half trading day on Christmas Eve, an off day on Christmas Day and another full day off on News Year’s. If New Year’s Day lands on a Saturday, there is no NYSE market holiday. When New Year’s Day falls on Sunday, it’s observed on Monday.
The NYSE may also be closed due to unforeseen circumstances, such as technical/system failures, extraordinary market volatility, natural disasters, wars, and more.
For example, if a President of the United States dies, then the NYSE will select a day of mourning (typically the day of the funeral) to be closed. This occurred in 2018, when President Trump declared the market closed on December 5, 2018 to mourn the passing of President George H.W. Bush.
We include the holiday market schedule when appropriate, for both free and premium subscribers to The Opening Print. To join, simply sign up below!
