Apart from these fixed holidays, there could be more NYSE holiday closings for the year 2019 due to extraordinary circumstances. For example, if a President of the United States dies, then the NYSE will select a day of mourning (typically the day of the funeral) and will be closed on this day. This already occurred in 2018, when President Trump declared the market closed on December 5, 2018 to mourn the passing of President George H.W. Bush.

The NYSE may also be closed due to some unforeseen circumstances, such as technical/system failures, extraordinary market volatility, natural disasters, wars, and more.
