It's been a busy day @PeakHQ as we closed a heavily oversubscribed placement in Netccentric Ltd. (ASX:NCL).
Also, PEAK's Portfolio company Fatfish Group (ASX:FFG) entered into a trading halt today pending the release of an announcement concerning a material development in Smartfunding Pte Ltd’s Buy-Now- Pay-Later services.
Across markets…
Australian shares finished 0.9% lower at 6777.8. The major miners were down, while most of the banks, tech stocks, and telcos also sagged.
The Nasdaq fell for the second session in a row while the Dow Jones and S&P500 closed higher last night.
Futures were pointing to further losses for all three US indices.
Woolworths appears to be comfortably outperforming rival Coles in the new year, reporting an 8% jump in sales across the first seven weeks of 2021. First-half earnings were up 30% to $1.13b, in line with analyst expectations. Shares closed 1.1% higher at $39.50.
The Aussie dollar hit a new three-year high of 79.45 US cents today as it rides on the back of strong iron ore prices and a soft US dollar.

The Swedish-listed subsidiary of technology venture capital firm Fatfish Group (ASX: FFG) has posted a record $15.1 million profit for the 2020 financial year.
Stockholm-based Abelco Investment Group AB reported the strong results after a strategic review led by Fatfish, which saw it dispose of non-profitable subsidiaries as a way of turning around a $3.5 million loss in the previous corresponding period.
The $15.1 million profit represents a 526% improvement on results from 2019.
Abelco also credited an appreciation of value in key investment vehicle and mobile gaming company iCandy Interactive (ASX: ICI), which demonstrated strong share price performance during the period.
Fatfish said it is pleased with Abelco’s positive financial results, and will continue to develop strategies and initiatives with Abelco’s team to assist in the creation of shareholder value.

China shares dropped on Wednesday, with investors selling consumer and healthcare stocks, as concerns over policy tightening continued to weigh on sectors with lofty valuations.
Hong Kong shares slumped as well on a media report that the government will increase stamp duty to 0.13% from 0.1% for stock trading.
The tax hike was officially announced by Finance Secretary Paul Chan after the morning session.
At the midday break, the Shanghai Composite index was down 1.55% at 3,579.95 points, while the blue-chip CSI300 index dropped 2.05%.
Leading the losses, the consumer staples sector slumped 4.1% while the healthcare sub-index dropped 3.17%.
The smaller Shenzhen index was down 1.54%, the start-up board ChiNext Composite index was weaker by 2.57% and Shanghai’s tech-focused STAR50 index was down 1.1%.
