The S&P/ASX 200 dropped as much as 1.3% before recovering to close 0.5 per cent lower, down 39.6 points, at 7,239.7.
Futures are pointing to gains on Wall Street tonight with the Nasdaq mini up 1.2%, the S&P500 mini up 0.9% and the Dow Jones mini up 0.7%. All three fell heavily on Friday.
In Asian trade, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil has gained 5.3% to $US71.75 after dropping 13.1% on Friday. Brent crude is up 4.7% to $US76.17 after falling 11.6% on Friday.
Gold has dipped today, down 0.5% to $US1,794. Bitcoin is down 0.2% to $US54,636.51 on Bitstamp at 6.33am AEDT.
