Last night, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record highs on Monday, as investors eyed an economic recovery from the coronavirus and awaited cues from the Federal Reserve this week amid caution over rising borrowing costs.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.53 per cent to end at 32,953.46 points, while the S&P 500 gained 0.65 per cent to 3,968.94.
The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.05 per cent to 13,459.71. It remains down almost 5% from its Feb. 12 record high close.
In a concrete sign that the worst of the damage from the coronavirus pandemic may be over for the airline industry, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and JetBlue Airways said leisure bookings were rising.
Gains in the major indexes accelerated near the end of the trading session.
The S&P 1500 airlines index jumped over 4 per cent to a one-year high, while other travel-related stocks, including Carnival Corp, Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts jumped between 2 per cent and 5 per cent.

Cannabis producer ECS Botanics (ASX:ECS) is undertaking a $6 million capital raising to help it complete the acquisition of Victorian cultivator Murray Meds.
ECS has completed the transaction of Murray Meds, a fully licensed medical cannabis cultivation and GMP manufacturing facility in north-western Victoria.
This is the same low-cost cannabis model used by ECS which has an outdoor medicinal cannabis facility in Tasmania, due to come online this year.
The $6 million capital raising which consists of a $4 million placement and a $2 million rights issue, comes only a fortnight after ECS shareholders overwhelmingly approved the acquisition.
“We are excited to complete this transaction which positions ECS as the largest, lowest cost and most geographically diverse cannabis producer in Australia,” ECS managing director Alex Keach declared.
