Sandia High School’s outstanding senior guard, Viané Cumber, on Monday night announced she has de-committed from Texas Tech and is reopening her recruitment.
“With structural changes, it is best that I reopen my recruitment process and make decisions that are best for me and my family,” she wrote on Twitter.
Texas Tech recently fired head coach Marlene Stollings just after a national report was published, with a handful of players accusing Stollings of running a toxic and abusive program.
Cumber last season was a first-team All-State selection in Class 5A for the Matadors. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 22.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.4 steals a game last season.
