S&P 500 Futures: They Call This “Thin to Win”

After trading higher in the overnight session, the S&P 500 futures opened Tuesday’s regular session at 2857.00, up +7.00 handles. The low at 2855.75 was printed just after the bell, then the benchmark futures pushed higher through the rest of the morning, making a high at 2863.75 just after 9:30 am ct. From there, the ES made a late morning low of 2858.00, followed by a trade up to 2862.25 at midday.

The afternoon saw a very tight and choppy range until the final hour, and was then able to push down to 2857.75, before printing 2858.75 on the 3:00 cash close, and then settling the day at 2859.75, up +9.75 handles, or +0.30%. The overall tone was still a thin to win type price action.
