The Australian sharemarket advanced on Tuesday as mining stocks recorded robust gains and iron ore prices jumped on news of additional stimulus in China.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index rose 19.8 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 7078.2 at the closing bell, with four out of the 11 sectors in the green. The All Ordinaries added 0.3 per cent to 7289.3.
The mining giants were among the best performers, with BHP Group jumping 1.6 per cent to $47.40, Rio Tinto up 2 per cent to $127.37 and Fortescue Metals adding 0.7 per cent to $25.47.
Iron ore futures on the Singapore exchange rallied 1.3 per cent to $US132.85 a tonne in late afternoon trading on the December contract.

The company has recently undergone a number of corporate initiatives including a share consolidation & significant reductions in fixed costs.
