Global stocks edged higher on hopes that the US has made some progress in efforts to arrange a second round of talks with Iran, ahead of Wednesday’s looming ceasefire
deadline. The US has expressed confidence that peace talks with Iran will go ahead in Pakistan and a senior Iranian official said Tehran was considering joining, but significant uncertainty remains. President Trump said Vice President, JD Vance, is ready to
leave for negotiations in Islamabad, but threatened to return to conflict if Iran doesn’t make a deal. Pakistan officials say the US Delegation will arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday morning. Iran has still not indicated a time of arrival according to state
media. Iranian state television (IRIB) and other official Iranian sources explicitly stated today that no Iranian delegation—primary, secondary, preparatory, or otherwise—has departed for or arrived in Islamabad for the anticipated second round of talks. Sources
told CNN the US believes there is a split between the Iranian negotiation team and the revolutionary guard.

EQUITIES:

US equity futures climb as Iran weighs cease-fire talks with the US. Solid earnings, the AI narrative and positioning are all supporting the market. Asset managers’ exposure to S&P 500

The Citi US earnings revisions index has moved back into positive territory after two negative weekly prints. Of the 49 S&P 500 companies to have reported so far, 80% have beaten analysts’ forecasts. UnitedHealth’s stock surges pre-market as profit beats expectations

FIXED INCOME:

Treasuries see subtle bear flattening move with long-end yields broadly unchanged on the day and front-end cheaper by around 3bp, tightening 2s10s and 5s30s spreads
by 3bp and 1.5bp on the day. Price action has been muted as oil futures fluctuate between gains and losses. 10-year yield is unchanged at 4.25%. Session focus includes Kevin Warsh scheduled to appear before the Senate Banking Committee, while data includes

METALS:

Gold slips, weighed down by a slightly firmer ‌dollar as lingering uncertainty over US-Iran peace talks kept investors cautious. Markets remain “on edge” over whether
fresh peace talks would materialize before the ceasefire expires. The US expressed confidence that peace talks with Iran would go ahead in Pakistan and a senior Iranian official said Tehran was considering joining. Rio Tinto’s copper output climbed 9% in the
first quarter on the Oyu Tolgoi mine ramp-up. Spot gold -0.6%, Silver -0.7%, Copper futures +0.15%.

ENERGY:

Oil fluctuated as traders were looking for signs that Iran will attend talks with the US. Iran was said to be sending a team to Pakistan for the negotiations, although
it wasn’t clear who or when they would arrive. Meanwhile, Hormuz flows remain at a virtual standstill, with three vessels attempting to transit early Tuesday. US forces boarded the sanctioned tanker M/T Tifani in the Indo-Pacific yesterday, escalating a naval
crackdown on Iran-linked shipping. The vessel, tied to Iran and known for frequently changing flags, was last tracked in the Indian Ocean between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The operation was described as a right-of-visit boarding carried out without incident.
NBC, citing MarineTraffic data reports that only 12 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours. So far, the conflict has caused the loss of a billion barrels of supply, an amount that could grow to 1.5 billion barrels if it continues, Trafigura
Group’s Chief Economist said. Brent traded near $95 a barrel after gaining 5.6% on Monday. WTI crude futures consolidate around $87.50 with all eyes on prospect of more US-Iran talks ahead of Wednesday’s ceasefire expiry.  WTI +0.2%, Brent -0.2%, US Nat Gas
-0.2%, RBOB +0.6%.

rise on CPI beat. Euro slips as German investor optimism dropped to the lowest level in more than three years as the Iran war eats away at a rebound in Europe’s biggest economy. The Bank of Japan is leaning toward keeping its policy rate unchanged next week
due to uncertainties from the war. Officials still favor raising rates but see little need to rush with the economic outlook potentially shifting due to the situation in the Middle East, sources said. US$ Index +0.1%, GBPUSD -0.1%, EURUSD -0.15%, USDJPY +0.15%,
AUDUSD -0.2%, NZDUSD +0.35%, USDCHF +0.1%, USDCAD +0.05%, USDSEK +0.1%, USDNOK ~flat.
