S&P 500 Futures: Thursday Low Is In

Chart courtesy of Scott Redler @RedDogT3$spx futures +17 as World markets take a breath from going down. We held 2800, oscillator hit -58 and we have a Holiday. Technically, we are just filling yesterday’s gap. I’d think 2840-2851 should be faded today, Not Bought. (If it see’s it).

During Wednesday nights Globex session, the S&P 500 futures (ESM19:CME) printed a high of 2858.50, a low of 2825.25, and opened Thursday’s regular trading hours at 2832.00.

Overnight weakness bled through into the day session, with the ES trading down to a new low at 2815.25 after the 8:30 CT bell. After some back and fill up to 2828.75, the futures once again turned lower, in what would be grind that lasted until the final hour, and would see another new low at 2805.75.

Going into the final hour, stocks found some strength, and by the time the 2:45 cash imbalance reveal came out showing $345 million to sell, the ES had traded up to 2823.75, before dropping back down to 2815.75.

Some more buyers stepped in going into the end of the day, and the futures would go on to print 2822.75 on the 3:00 cash close, and 2821.50 on the 3:15 futures close.

In the end, the overall tone of the ES was weak. In terms of the days overall trade, total volume was higher, with just over 2 million futures contracts traded.
