S&P 500 Futures: ESM19 Rallies 60 Handles From Friday Mornings 2726.25 Low

Chart courtesy of Scott Redler @RedDogT3Tech had the most power yesterday. This sector holds the keys to the next leg. See if $qqq digest well and if they can clear 2019 highs to give closes on $spx 2800++ or not.

During Sunday nights Globex session, the S&P 500 futures (ESM19:CME) printed a high of 2760.00 and opened Monday mornings regular trading session at 2755.25, up +8.25 handles.

We could do a big blow by blow of the days trade, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense. The ES initially traded up to the 2771 area just after 9:30 CT, pulled back a few handles down to 2768.50, popped up to 2787.75 at 10:20, back and filled in a 6 handle range, and by 1:00 ‘double topped’ at the 2785.50 area.

After some further back and fill price action, the ESM made a new high 2786.50, did some further back and fill, then traded up to 2789.25 on the 2:45 cash imbalance reveal. On the 3:00 cash close the ES traded 2788.50, and then traded 2789.25 on the 3:15 futures close, up +37 handles, or +1.34% on the day.

In the end it’s important to go back and look at last Friday’s low. The ES made a low at 2726.25 just after 9:00 am, and has rallied 60 handles since. It was hard to fight the up move Friday, and it was impossible to fight yesterday. In regard to the ES’s overall tone, it was extremely strong with little to no pullbacks. In terms of the days overall trade, total volume was pretty high, with 1.9 million futures contracts traded.
